Our Mission

The mission of the INEC Caribbean and Latin American Institute is: “To promote the conservation of the cultural heritage of the Caribbean and Latin America through education, the arts and culture.”

As a result, this institution will promote the study and understanding of Caribbean and Latin America culture in New York, will disseminate the varied manifestations of those cultures, and will encourage creative industries based in this cultural heritage.

Institutional Goals

The goal of the INEC Caribbean and Latin American Institute is to bring the following benefits to New York’s Hispanic/Latino community:

·         To provide informal education to community leaders and the Caribbean and Latin American immigrant population living in conditions of poverty.

·         To support aspects of Intercultural Education in those schools with high populations of immigrants or descendents of immigrants, encouraging a love of music and dances, an appreciation for writers and thinkers, and the diffusion of art in the theater, painting, drawing, photography, the cinema, and other arts.

·         To train artisans and artists of Caribbean or Latin American origins to promote creative businesses related to culture.

·         To offer services for research of the Caribbean and Latin America to professors, students and the general public. 

·         To organize artistic exhibitions about the cultural heritage of the Caribbean and Latin America for the benefit of the residents of and visitors to the city.
